The Clarity II laser hair removal platform at Cirillo Cosmetic has many advantages over other types of devices. In the past, several weeks might pass before a practitioner knew if a traditional laser treatment was effective. The Clarity II technology provides real-time feedback while the procedure is being performed, allowing us to choose the most suitable treatment parameters to maximize results for each individual patient.

Patients usually only experience minor discomfort. This laser platform is equipped with Temperature Sensing and advanced Skin Cooling with ICD technology for optimized patient comfort. Each treatment session may last between five to thirty minutes depending on the treatment area and size. You may experience some minor, temporary side effects such as mild redness and swelling but you can resume your normal activities right away. Most patients achieve their desired results after a series of laser hair removal sessions.

Even though follicles are damaged by a laser hair removal treatment, they should be intact prior to the start of a session. This means any activities that would alter the normal, healthy function of a follicle or the skin around it should be avoided in the weeks before your appointment. Do not pluck or wax any hairs in the area to be treated. Also, avoid any activities that can lighten the hairs themselves (such as bleaching) or darken the skin past its normal tone (such as tanning). We always recommend wearing a sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30 to protect against ultraviolet radiation when exposed to the sun. Your skin never forgets the amount of UV radiation deposited!

Laser hair removal impacts the follicle directly at the root, causing pigmented cells there to heat up, but it works only on follicles that are in an active growing phase.

Since all follicles cycle through multiple phases, approximately 50 to 85 percent of the follicles in an area may be actively growing at a given time. This is known as the anagen phase.

Next comes the catagen phase, when a follicle prepares to eject its hair by shrinking and cutting the hair shaft off from its nourishing blood supply.

In the following telogen phase, the newly shrunken follicle rests and stores up energy for its return to active growth.

Finally, emerging new growth causes the inactive hair to fall out in the exogen phase, freeing the follicle to cycle back to the anagen phase.

In order to impact the greatest number of anagen follicles possible in an area, laser hair removal treatments need to be spaced out over several months. This allows telogen phase hairs to cycle back to anagen phase, where they are vulnerable to the laser energy.

With the Clarity II treatment, hair is effectively reduced in the targeted area. This means that the damaged follicles are no longer able to function as they should, limiting hair growth for months to years. If hairs re-grow in an area treated by laser hair removal, they are typically much lighter and finer in appearance and can be re-treated with the laser.

For patients who shave multiple times a week—or even daily—the results afforded by laser hair removal are a significant time saver. This treatment also allows men and women to virtually eliminate tweezing and waxing, as Clarity II can be used virtually anywhere unwanted hair grows.
