Skin aging is caused by a combination of factors. Some are “intrinsic,” like genetic influences and chronological aging, which we can’t control. Others are “extrinsic,” like exposure to air pollution, smoking, and ultraviolet radiation, which we can control. The Cirillo Cosmetic Dermatology Spa team provides LaseMD Ultra for Bryn Mawr, Newtown Square, Philadelphia, and Main Line patients who want to restore healthy, vibrant skin that has been damaged by both intrinsic and extrinsic factors.
Thanks to its leading-edge technology, LaseMD Ultra, also known as Lutronic ULTRA™, is virtually painless, requires minimal downtime, and generates results that can be seen and felt right away.

What is LaseMD Ultra?
LaseMD is a fractionated laser treatment, meaning it produces thousands of tiny microbeams of light, each of which heats a fraction of the skin at one time, leaving untreated areas to help speed healing in the treated areas. The heat promotes both collagen remodelling and new collagen production in deeper layers.
Opposed to traditional laser skin resurfacing procedures, LaseMD Ultra is a gentle, non-ablative treatment, meaning that it treats skin imperfections without injuring the top layer of skin. It can be used safely on all skin types at any time of the year. LaseMD Ultra is equipped with the highest available energy, making it more powerful than many other non-ablative laser resurfacing options available on the market.
The device can target a larger area in less time, and multiple areas can be treated during a single visit, so treatments are quick and efficient. LaseMD Ultra sessions are normally completed within 15 to 30 minutes, depending on which areas are being treated. Patients often refer to the LaseMD Ultra as the “Lunchtime Facial.”
The level of discomfort experienced varies depending upon the energy settings chosen: low, medium or high. It’s normal to experience a warm, tingling sensation during the treatment. A topical numbing cream may be applied beforehand to minimize discomfort if more powerful energy settings are used.
What Can LaseMD Ultra Treat?
LaseMD Ultra produces a brighter skin tone while also enhancing the overall texture of the skin on the face, neck, chest, hands, and body. Treatments can be easily customized depending on the age and desired outcomes of each patient. LaseMD Ultra is designed to improve sun damage, blotchy complexions, tone, and texture. It successfully addresses the following issues:
- Age spots
- Sunspots, including freckles and lentigos
- Sun damage, including wrinkles and volume loss
- Actinic keratosis (pre-cancerous lesions)
Results and Recovery from LaseMD Ultra
Patients can typically resume their normal activities right away after a LaseMD Ultra session. Temporary side effects include redness and a dry, sandpapery texture as the skin sheds. The redness typically lasts for 24 to 48 hours, with full recovery after five to seven days.
New, healthier skin gradually develops where the tissues were treated. Many patients will be satisfied with the dramatic results that can be achieved after just one LaseMD Ultra treatment—but for some skin conditions, patients may need to book multiple sessions to optimize results.

Which Treatments Complement LaseMD Ultra?
LaseMD Ultra can be combined with the new KeraLase™ hair restoration system for improving thinning hair. LaseMD is applied to the scalp first to prepare the skin by creating tiny “microchannels” and helping it absorb the topical KeraFactor® serum more effectively. This serum contains growth factors and proteins that promote stronger, thicker, and more volumized hair for men and women. The non-invasive KeraLase™ treatment is quick, causes minimal discomfort, and requires no injections or downtime. Hair quality will continue to improve over the following 12 to 18 months.
LaseMD Ultra is also used together with Lutronic™ Genius™ RF microneedling as part of the TotalSkin Solution Treatment. This combined laser and radiofrequency microneedling procedure targets all layers of skin in a single treatment to provide results visible right away, as well as longterm beneficial effects. LaseMD Ultra enhances the upper layers of the skin while Genius™ RF microneedling penetrates deep into the tissue to promote collagen remodelling and new collagen formation. The combined treatments address common signs of aging to dramatically improve the skin.
Other Skin Resurfacing and Rejuvenation Options
The Cirillo Cosmetic Dermatology Spa provides a complete range of laser and light-based treatments in addition to LaseMD Ultra, including laser hair removal, laser vein treatment, and laser skin resurfacing with Carbon Dioxide (CO2) or Erbium Yag (Erb:YAG). Intense Pulsed Light treatments are a less aggressive light-based solution for reducing unwanted pigmentation and improving tone and texture.
