University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Department of Dermatology

Developed human in vitro dendritic cell immunotherapies for Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma (CTCL), specifically Sezary Syndrome (SzS). Loaded dendritic cells with antigens derived from whole tumor cells that were isolated from blood of SzS patients, assessed them for maturation potential and tumor specific T-Cell responses in vitro. Performed clinical trial in which eligible patients with SzS were given Dendritic Cell derived vaccines and then assessed for clinical response. Prepared two Investigational New Drug Applications based on data gathered from in vitro research: 1) In vitro Evaluation of Immune Responses in Sezary Syndrome and 2) Randomized Phase I/II Evaluation of Immunization Against Tumor Cells in Subjects with Sezary Syndrome using Autologous Mature Dendritic Cells.
